Ceilings

Ceiling Painting in Guelph, Milton, Georgetown & Kitchener

Ceilings are the surface people forget until the stain shows up or the sunlight hits a patch just right. A good ceiling finish is flat, even and quiet. A bad one has lap marks and shadowing that you notice every morning. We paint ceilings the slow way, because that is how they come out right.

Coffered ceilings

A coffered ceiling is a grid of recessed panels, and every panel has four inside corners and a lot of edge to cut by hand. The photos below show a dining room before and during the work, with the furniture wrapped and the floor covered. We prep the beams and panels, patch what needs patching and paint the grid in order so the finish is even all the way across.

Vaulted ceilings and exposed beams

High ceilings need proper access, so we use scaffolding or the right equipment rather than overreaching on a ladder. Beams can be painted or kept as wood, and we will show you what each option does to the room. Some of the rooms we have worked on have dark exposed beams against a light ceiling, which looks great and takes careful masking at the edges.

Stains, patches and repairs first

A water mark or crack under fresh paint will come back through. We find the source with you, repair the surface and prime it properly before painting. If a leak is still active, we will tell you to deal with the roof or plumbing first so the work lasts.

Protecting the room

Ceiling work drips and mists, so the room gets wrapped: furniture, floors, light fixtures and anything we cannot move. We pictured a dining room draped in plastic below because that is what a careful ceiling job looks like before the first coat goes on.

Ceilings FAQ

Can you paint coffered ceilings?

Yes. They take more time than a flat ceiling because of all the edges and corners, and we account for that in the estimate.

Do you paint vaulted or high ceilings?

Yes, using scaffolding or the right access equipment. Tell us the height when you call so it is built into your fixed price.

What about water stains on the ceiling?

We repair and prime the area before painting so it does not come through again. If the leak is still active, we will tell you to fix the source first.

Can you paint exposed beams?

Yes, or we can leave them as wood and paint around them with clean masking. We will talk through both so you can choose.

Do I need to move my furniture?

No. We wrap and protect furniture and floors. For very full rooms, we may ask you to clear small items and valuables beforehand.
